Chinuch.org is one of the sites that has valuable learning/activity materials to help learners of Hebrew and/or Judaism. Their learning materials can also be used in classroom setting. Learning the Aleph-Bet
The basic thing to do when learning to read a language is to master its alphabet first. Learning a new language sort of removes the barriers between two different cultures.
Hebrew is the fourth language I’m learning. I’m not yet proficient in my third language but I can say I’m improving and being able to read and understand it comes in handy. I was a bilingual like most people I know but I didn’t want to stop there so I tried to learn new languages on my own.
I started learning the Aleph-Bet using free online tutorials. After getting quite familiar with them, I went on reading Hebrew words with vowel points. I first practiced reading Hebrew on the Click-and-Read-Free on Behrman House. This site is ideal for a beginner who wants to read Hebrew confidently. Having a good Hebrew dictionary is very helpful also. There are also some available Hebrew grammar and lexicon eBooks in the public domain that are useful.
